Trying to Stitch

Well I'm still trying to find the time to stitch but it's not going terribly well at the moment. Very busy with Normannis and Uni stuff at the moment. Suddenly have a whole bunch of deadlines to write for and loads of prep to do for our big show. Doesn't help not living on campus. I also went on a trip to Carreg Cennen Castle near Llandeilo. One of my assignments features Llandeilo so it wasn't all pleasure. Very pretty and nice views of the snow up in the hills.

Last week I was working on my Cancer Chesterton. Managed to get a fair amount of confetti done on the pearls and shells. At the weekend I did some more work on my Little Partners Reunion, this one still just looks like blobs of brown to me, hopefully sometime it will start to look like a horse!

Insert Clever Title Here

My main project for last week has been the 2011 HAED BB SAL piece QS Little One Lost. This is the one I started for the SAL and never got much done on. Managed to get in about 950 stitches on him this week, would have liked that to have been more as there are lots of big blocks of colour on this one but I just didn't seem to have the time to stitch last week. I did manage to go out to a Shire Horse center and a castle as well as  going through a load of stuff stored in a stable where I managed to track down most of my camping equipment, some lost games and a live rat!

My other project for the weekend has been a unicorn piece from a book called Fantasy Cross Stitch by Julie Hasler (it's the unicorn on the cover). This is yet another one that I felt compelled to restart for various reasons, having already completed a large portion of it previously. Managed about 600 stitches in this over two days although it really doesn't look like it. Mostly worked on the fore leg and part of the back. I'm hoping the next time I work on it I can get the back looking more horse like as the whole thing looks a bit abstract at the moment.

Sunlit Horses

Last week I was working on a small Dimensions kit called Sunlit Horses. Think I started this one about a year ago and have done about 7 weeks work on it now. I Didn't think I had done that long on it, must be a slower stitcher than I though.  Finally have all the full crosses done though so it's just the half crosses in the background to do now. Oh and all the dreaded backstitch, that always takes and age to get done.  Might even get it done by this time next year! This is quite nice and simple for a Dimensions kit - only one blended colour so far.

My other project for this week has been a Mystic Stitch Chart just called Cats. This one feels like it's been very slow going. Can't remember when I started it and have only been working on it at weekends so there is never much progress to see. Most of this so far has been DMC 939 and 823 with a few other colours thrown in here and there. This is my first Mystic Stitch chart and I don't enjoy it as much as my HAEDs not sure if it's the colours or the fabric on this one or just the way the charts only use letters rather than normal symbols. The letters just seem to make the chart harder to read for me - what's wrong with the normal symbols anyway?

In other news actually had some nice weather in the last week. The last few days have been really nice. Wasn't as good at the start of the week but still managed to get out to a local zoo - Manor House Wildlife Park. They have a lemur walk-through with some very relaxed lemurs who were enjoying the nice weather. Our horses have also been enjoying the nicer weather.
